The WSC-PXP-SoC is a single-chip GIGe packet modem solution, comprised of a QAM modem with cross-polarization canceling (XPIC), an LDPC FEC, adaptive coding and modulation (ACM) and a network processor. This solution is suitable for use in 3G/4G cellular backhaul network, fixed wireless transmission and private/enterprise network and similar applications.
These tightly integrated components are designed to provide a cost-effective fast-track to competitive high-performance broadband point-to-point packet-based radios. Together, they provide a complete systems solution consisting of all analog IF interfaces, a multi-rate/multi-modulation QAM modem with FEC, an Ethernet packet processor with QoS (Quality of Service) features and a management processor for configuration, status and reporting.
The WSC-PXP-SoC complies with all FCC and ETSI requirements, including spectral masks, spectrum density, scrambling, frequency stability, and out-of-band emissions.
The modem supports data rates up to 400 Mbps using 256QAM and an LDPC FEC provides BER < 10-12. Baseband and passband operation are supported. Both the demodulator input and modulator output are frequency agile. Integrated A/Ds and D/As provide the lowest cost solution possible.
The total power consumption is less than 3 watts. A block diagram of and IDU using the WSC-PTP-CS chip set is shown below.
